I’M JULIE RÉMYthe owner of Fleuris Studio & Blooms, a small floral design studio I created out of my love of caring for people, flowers and our environment..Natural free-flowing floral designs are my thing! My work is for those who appreciate the elegance of nature, it's fragile, spectacular and untamed beauty..I work in a private studio at Glendenning Farm located in Victoria, BC, on beautiful Vancouver Island. It is here that I grow the blooms that I love to work with. My gratitude goes out to the many who have facilitated my learning, including Floret online workshop and world renowned designers including Christin Geall, Sarah Winward, Holly Chapple, Gabriela Salazar, Katie Davis and Susan McLeary.
Here's a few fun facts about me:
01 – I DON’T JUST LIKE FLOWERS, I’M OBSESSED WITH THEM
My partner, who is a landscaper, now refers to everything that I look at, that is related to flowers, as flower porn! And my visits to a plant nursery? Well, I am as excited as that kid in a candy store!
02 – PLANNER OF ALL THINGS
As if planning and designing florals wasn’t enough. I also love engaging in board games that require a lot of strategic planning. Here my always-ten-steps-ahead mindset kicks in - and most often haves me win!
03 – I CAN’T RESIST CAT & BEE LOVE
We have three cats, Lilou, Boris and Sasha. They love to hang out in the garden and studio and they especially love helping me when it’s time to pick the flowers. We have sweet little chats - while they receive their asked-for belly rub. And those bees! I love to watch them especially as they get drunk on floral nectar - and then go hide in the dahlias for their daily nap.
04 – MY DESSERTS, NOBODY WOULD GUESS, ARE GLUTEN FREE
While my body and health doesn’t always agree with the best foods out there, I love a great dessert! I love to bake yumminess for guests and family to enjoy - although the truth is, it might be more for my own sweet tooth, than for theirs!
05 – I LOVE ANTIQUES
I have a thing for antiques - especially those that show history with their wear and tear and seemingly have a rich story to tell.
06 – IN MY PREVIOUS LIFE I WORKED AS A HUMANITARIAN
In my previous life, I traveled the world for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders helping to provide access to health care and organizing for world class photographers to visit our many humanitarian projects. Now I choose to help humanity and wildlife - one flower at a time.
