We grow flowers we use in our designs that also attract and nourish the bees, hummingbirds, butterflies, beneficial insects and other wildlife. We also source top quality floral ingredients from top quality Vancouver island growers. Working in a sustainable farm to table manner means our fresh bouquets and arrangements are only available from April to October, during flower season.
Working with local flowers allows us to not only leave a positive impact on our environment, but also create unique floral artistry that is elegant, heartfelt, romantic and full of movement using the freshest and most delicate ingredients we can source. Many ingredients do not ship well and most florists cannot afford the luxury of sourcing local flowers.
Life in the garden in March and April explodes in an abundance of shapes, perfumes, and colours. After a long winter, spring flowers are most welcome. Spring is a time of year when we often honour romantic commitments and celebrate love with flowers.
In early summer, we have biennials and perennials. Once July comes and the weather is consistently warmer, summer annuals start popping up and the garden looks very lush again until the end of the season.
Early autumn flowers are largely the same as late summer flowers. What is unique about this season is the subtle colour changes we see in the blooms whereas the colour changes in the foliage is much bolder. For example, the blueberry foliage turns bright red. In general, the garden is starting to look tired. It wants to rest and recharge, and we want to respect that natural rhythm and allow the garden to go to sleep.
